Updated February 2025! Five Guys is your basic burger joint with a simple menu and peanuts in the shell to nosh on while you wait. Their buns contain dairy, but their staff can expertly wrap your burger in a whole salad worth of lettuce. We’ve had many readers suggest this fast food joint (in both the U.S. and Canada), so we’ve gathered together this complete dairy-free guide to Five Guys with gluten-free, egg-free, soy-free, and vegan options, too.

Five Guys Dairy-Free Menu Guide with Allergen & Vegan Options

Five Guys Dairy-Free Menu Guide with Allergen & Vegan Options

This menu guide includes dairy-free menu options first, followed by custom order components. Be aware of special order requirements in parentheses () next to the menu items, and see the Heads Up notes to help fill in the blanks.

Butter Note: According to Five Guys, it is not policy to use real dairy butter at their locations. They have oil and “Liquid Butter,” which isn’t dairy butter. It’s dairy-free, and more of a butter-flavored oil.

Other Allergen & Dietary Notes: All items listed below are made without egg, gluten, and soy, unless otherwise noted. Five Guys reportedly doesn’t source any items containing tree nuts, but peanuts are literally everywhere at their restaurants. For vegan options, see the Vegan Menu Guide at the bottom of this post.

Burgers

  • Hamburger (lettuce wrap, no bun)
  • Bacon Burger (lettuce wrap, no bun)
  • Little Hamburger (lettuce wrap, no bun)
  • Little Bacon Burger (lettuce wrap, no bun)

Heads Up! Unfortunately, the Hamburger Buns at Five Guys contain milk. But they make a mean lettuce-wrapped burger.

Sandwiches & Hot Dogs

  • Hot Dog (lettuce wrap, no bun) (contains soy)
  • Bacon Hot Dog (lettuce wrap, no bun) (contains soy)

Heads Up! The sandwich buns are the hamburger buns, and the hot dog buns also contain milk. So any toppings must be ordered in a lettuce wrap. The BLT Sandwich and Veggie Sandwiches (just vegetables – Five Guys does not have a veggie burger) are a bit light without the bun. But they are good salad options!

Sides

  • Five Guys Style Fries
  • Cajun Style Fries

Heads Up! Fries are the only items cooked in the fryer at Five Guys. They use peanut oil for frying.

Meats

  • Bacon
  • Hamburger Patty
  • Hot Dog (contains soy)

Toppings

  • Green Peppers
  • Grilled Mushrooms
  • Grilled Onions
  • Jalapeño Peppers
  • Lettuce
  • Onions
  • Pickles
  • Tomatoes

Condiments

  • A.1. Original Steak Sauce
  • Bar-B-Que Sauce
  • Hot Sauce
  • Ketchup
  • Mayonnaise (contains egg, soy oil)
  • Mustard
  • Relish

Other Items

  • Bulk Peanuts
  • Eggs
  • Malt Vinegar (contains gluten)

Heads Up! Five Guys has two sources for their Fry Sauce. One contains milk and the other one is made without milk but has a “may contain” for milk. If your store carries the Fry Sauce, you can ask to see the ingredients for the one they use.

Five Guys Vegan Menu Guide

They do not have a veggie burger. But vegan guests at Five Guys can order a “veggie lettuce wrap sandwich” (basically a salad), fries, and most of the condiments can be enjoyed. See the lists below for options, but see the items above for allergen notes.

Love Five Guys

I get lettuce wrap or a bowl. Sometimes when I want bread, I just get it to-go and bring it home and use my own to make the burger.

Their lettuce wraps are actually pretty awesome. We’ve had them many times.

A favorite!

My husband and I always get the lettuce wrap and it’s great! It’s insanely messy, but like eating a whole burger salad. It’s better than with a bun!

The milk in the bun took me down quickly. I was advised of the milk content but last time in (a few months ago) I was okay with it. Maybe a new vendor?

I can’t say. But to the best of our knowledge, and as noted above, the bun has always contained milk at Five Guys. Perhaps more cross-contamination on the grill.
